At NYC CBTp we provide evidence-based, gold standard CBTp within a group practice model. What this means in practice is that although all our psychologists are highly trained, experienced and licensed in New York State, Dr. Riggs provides consultation on every session (and with your permission sessions may be audio recorded and reviewed by her for even more direct input). This ensures that regardless of which psychologist you see, you will receive the same high level of individualized treatment that is exactly right for you. For this reason you can schedule an intake with whichever psychologist has open at a convenient time/location for you, knowing that this will not affect the quality of the support you will get.
How much will it cost?
NYC CBTp is committed to providing high quality evidence based psychotherapy to anyone, regardless of their budget. Please contact us to discuss our fees and your insurance and payment options.
We are in network providers for Aetna Columbia Student Health only. We are an "out of network" provider for all other insurance companies. We choose to be "out of network" as it affords us the opportunity to work in a flexible, person-centered way that maximizes confidentiality and reduces the need for the use of stigmatizing medical labels.
This means that we charge you directly, and provide regular statements for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement back to you (if you wish). Many insurance companies are happy to reimburse on this basis and typically reimburse 50-80% of the fee.
Please be mindful if using insurance to pay for therapy that insurance companies have the right to audit your electronic medical records at any time. Legal consent is implied by the use of your benefits, even if these are "out of network". At NYC CBTp were are respectful of your privacy and do our best to limit the use of confidential information. However we are not responsible for what happens to such information when it reaches your insurance company.
What form of payment do you accept?
All payments are due in full at the beginning of each session. The following forms of payment are accepted: cash, check, and credit card (including Health Savings Account cards).
What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly request that all cancellations be given at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment time. If less than 24 hours notice is given you will be responsible for the therapist's full fee. This is to ensure that the appointment can be offered to someone else who is waiting. Please note that insurance companies do not typically reimburse for no shows or late canceled appointments.
Is Telemedicine available?
For your convenience our psychologists are able to see patients who reside in NY state for occasional follow-up appointments via telemedicine. Initial appointments must always take place in person however. Click here for more information.
